Hey everyone! I am going to be a Youth Ambassador (YA) in Brasil for the next three weeks and I can barely contain my exhilaration right now! It’s all I have been thinking about for about the whole summer, and I can’t wait to be there. I’m going with 12 other high schoolers from here, Tulsa, Charlotte, and Bozeman, and if you want to read about the program, which is sponsored by the US State Department, check out the website! http://migre.me/10g7n
At this time tomorrow, I will be in the air on my way to Washington DC to meet the other YAs. We’ll spend a day in the American capital, then jet off to Brasil’s capital, Brasilia for a few days. I’ll go to the Northeastern city of Recife to stay with a host family, and end the trip in Rio De Janeiro. Along the way we’ll meet Brazilian YAs, visit schools, see sights, and learn about the fascinating county. Hopefully as I travel I can keep you updated as to what’s going on here in South America.
I’ll miss Seattle and everyone, but as the Brazilians say: beijos e abraços!
P.S. Thank you OneWorld Now! for hosting this blog
i am delighted tohear from you, i write this on tuesday and you must be tired but happy in Brasilia. That is such an interesting town, there is much to see . The beautiful buildings built by the Architect Niemayer i think , when these gorgous churches and buildings were built many years ago they were very much ahead of the time. i hope you met some nice kids from other states on your way and that you will all have a ball ,Hugs love and kisses your grandma,
Hello Margaret, i wrote a blog telling you how happy i am for you for this wonderful experience you are having. It is tuesday morning by us , soon i am dunking in the swimming pool, then i will bring a painting to be hung in the art exhibit at the City Library. At the same time you are probably sleeping there in Brazilia half around the world. Hope you are not too tired from the visiting and long trip and can really sleep and rest yourself so you dont get over tired. Enjoy all the wonderful sights of Brazilia, i wonder how it has changed since i visited that City about 15 years ago when it was just built and they tried to move City and Government workers to live and work there it was difficult because people wished to remain in their home cities. Now there is a new generation all grown up there. I made many lovely slides then but moving to these many places it seems i discarded them at my last move. Too bad we could view them again , but you will bring newer fotos which we will enjoy. Have fun dear Margaret, Much love Ambrazos Carinia i think that is spanish but may not be. Anyhow Kisses and Hugs, Your Grandma
